Full Set of Golf Clubs or Half?

This is a very common question amongst beginners, should they invest in a full set of clubs from the very beginning. This depends on a number of factors:

1. Are you going to stick with it?

2. Where will you be playing to start off with?

One of my friends recently took up golf having listened to me talk about how much fun it is. He doesn't really know whether it's something he would like to take up or just use as a hobby from time to time. Initally he is just going to come down the driving range when I go, therefore I advised him to buy the following:

Pitching Wedge - It's never too early to get started with this club, arguably the most important club in your bag.

Driver - They're cheap and great fun down the range.

Glove - Utterly essential piece of equipment if you don't want to get blisters or other abrasions on your hands.

Putter - What else are you going use on a green?

In my opinion this is a great starter set for someone who just wants to dabble in golf to see if they like it. It allows you to go down the range and partake in a little pitch n putt once you feel a little more confident. It's also incredibly cheap to get started in this way, all this came to just under £50 which is very reasonable, of course if we'd shopped around we could have got this equipment for a fraction of the price but it's not exactly extortionate.

Of course you're not going to be able to play on a full size course with this bare bones approach (well you could but we wouldn't advise it) but to get started it's absolutely ideal.
